GOBABIS: The three men accused of the murder of Aminuis anti-stock theft unit leader Hiambepo Major Kazeurua and another accused person in the stock theft case linked to the murder were all remanded in custody after a lengthy bail hearing here failed to reach a conclusion on Friday.
The four – Stockley Mbaruu Kauejao, 39; Mathew Kakururume, 28; Muvare Kaporo, 24; and Alphas Kavee Kamutjemo, 30, have each lodged an application for bail.
Only Kauejao and Kamutjemo have secured legal representation; the remaining two accused are representing themselves in the bail hearing.
The accused were informed that both cases – stock theft and murder – have been combined to avoid technicalities when dealing with bail because they are linked.
Alphas Kamutjemo, who is listed on the court roll as accused number four, is the only one who is has not been linked to the murder charge at present.
The State on Friday argued against the granting of bail to all suspects on the grounds that the investigations are still in the infancy stages; the suspects could abscond if accorded bail; more charges and arrests could still be added; and the fact that the case has generated huge public interest.
