Bandari FC and Kenya Commercial Bank Play to Goalless Draw in Premier League Match

MOMBASA – In a closely contested match, Bandari FC was held to a 0-0 draw by Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League on Saturday, failing to make up ground on league leaders Gor Mahia.

According to Kenya News Agency, despite creating several opportunities, including five corner kicks in the first 29 minutes, his team could not convert any into goals. KCB’s first significant chance came half an hour into the game with a header from Derrick Otanga, which was saved by Bandari’s goalkeeper, Bryne Omondi.

The second half saw both teams continue to press for a breakthrough, but stout defenses on both sides prevented any score. Baraza remarked that scoring has been a persistent issue for the team and is a focal point for future training sessions. He also noted the recent move from Mbaraki Sports Club to Mombasa Sports Club as a tactical challenge they are adapting to.

The draw leaves Bandari in third place in the league standings with 45 points from 27 games, trailing the leaders by a slim margin. Meanwhile, KCB’s coach, Bernard Mwalala, was satisfied with securing a point away from home, especially given the challenging conditions in Mombasa. He acknowledged the balanced nature of the match, with neither team able to capitalize on their periods of dominance.

Mwalala also shared his team’s ambitions to succeed in the MozzartBet Cup and earn a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, reflecting a focus on both domestic and continental competitions.

Bandari’s next fixture is against AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium, while KCB prepares for a quarter-final clash against Kakamega Homeboyz in the MozzartBet Cup.
