Over 100 Doctors Trained by CARFO on New Social Security Law and Medical Document Preparation

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – more than 100 treating doctors received training on Tuesday from the Autonomous Retirement Fund for Civil Servants (CARFO), focusing on the latest regulations concerning the compensation of professional risks and the production of medical certificates. The training aimed to enhance the doctors’ understanding of Law 003-2021/AN, effective from April 1, 2021, which outlines the social security regime for public officials.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of CARFO, the training session was essential because health professionals are pivotal in managing the consequences of workplace accidents or occupational diseases. Under the new law, once an accident or illness is officially recognized, treating doctors are responsible for the ongoing care of the affected individuals, explained Camille Yaméogo, the central director of CARFO services. He noted the importance of keeping medical practitioners updated on the law to effectively handle their roles in the professional risk management process. CARFO, as a public institution, leads the prevention and management of occupational risks in Burkina Faso, considering doctors crucial to the success of its missions in this domain.
