Gaoua Governor Visits Artists and Athletes Ahead of National Culture Week

Gaoua, Burkina Faso – Boureima Savadogo, the governor of the South-West region, met with local artists and athletes on Thursday, April 18, 2024, in preparation for their participation in the upcoming 21st edition of National Culture Week (SNC 2024). His visits aimed to bolster the morale and efforts of those competing in the cultural event.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the visits included stops at the training sessions of wrestlers, the rehearsal of the “Africrate” orchestra, and the practice rounds of archers. At each location, he provided advice and expressed his support, emphasizing the importance of their hard work to excel and win prizes at the event. Savadogo highlighted the significant role of traditional sports like wrestling and archery, which have historically brought accolades to the region.

The governor also conveyed his broader support for all competitors from the region, stating that their efforts not only represent Gaoua but also the entire South-West region at the biennial cultural festival. The artists and athletes expressed gratitude for the encouragement and committed to striving for top honors at the National Culture Week.
