Cascades Region Authorities Praise President Traoré for Anti-Terrorism Efforts

BANFORA – In Banfora, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the President of the Transition and Head of State, met with customary and religious leaders from the Cascades region this Tuesday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the religious and traditional authorities commended the President for the significant progress made in combating terrorism and expressed their continued support for the ongoing Transition.

The leaders specifically praised the coordinated efforts of the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and the local dozos, which have collectively succeeded in reclaiming several areas within the region from terrorist control. Additionally, they acknowledged the Transition government’s initiatives in improving sectors like agriculture and health.

During the audience, His Majesty Maouran Tolé Sagnon, the head of Karaborola Canton, highlighted the need for enhanced medical facilities in the Cascades region and expressed gratitude towards Captain Traoré for officially recognizing May 15 as a day to celebrate the contributions of customary figures. He emphasized the motivation this recognition provides to those fighting against terrorism.

Monsignor Lucas Sanou, Bishop of the diocese of Banfora, also remarked on the successful efforts to regain territorial integrity, noting the restored freedom of movement throughout the region, a testament to the effective leadership and actions of the President. The religious leaders further applauded the measures taken to ensure food security and improve healthcare systems in the region.
