Gambia Hosts 15th Islamic Summit Conference, Culminating OIC Engagement


Ouagadougou: The Republic of Gambia is hosting the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference on May 4-5, 2024, marking a significant milestone in its long-standing involvement with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).



According to Burkina Information Agency, Since joining the OIC in 1974, Gambia has been an active participant in the organization’s various initiatives, most notably taking a lead role in advocating for the Rohingya Muslim minority at the International Court of Justice. The preparatory meeting on May 2, 2024, emphasized Gambia’s efforts under President Adama Barrow in preparing for the summit, which aims to enhance cooperation and dialogue among member states on critical issues facing the Islamic world.
