Ugenya Residents Attend Free Medical Camp Amidst Ongoing Doctor’s Strike


Ugenya, Kenya – Hundreds of residents in Ugenya turned out for a free medical camp hosted by the Eliud Owalo Foundation despite a chilly downpour, gathering at the Sega township primary school grounds. The camp provided much-needed healthcare services during the ongoing doctors’ strike.



According to Kenya News Agency, Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, the foundation’s initiative supports the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to improving healthcare access for all Kenyans. Owalo emphasized that a healthy population is crucial for national productivity and development. During his address, Owalo also encouraged the public to plant more trees during the current rainy season and reiterated President William Ruto’s advice for residents living near riverbanks to relocate to safer areas due to recent fatal flooding incidents.



Acting Director General of Health in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, who led the medical team at the camp, praised the effort for helping to diagnose community health issues. Dr. Amoth highlighted that the Ministry has implemented several measures to protect the health of Kenyans affected by floods, including water chlorination in displacement camps and safe waste disposal. He noted that immunization outreach teams were active in ensuring that women and children under five years old receive necessary vaccinations.
