Burkinabe Government Halts Unauthorized Construction at French Ambassador’s Residence

Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government has ordered a stop to unauthorized construction activities at the French ambassador’s residence in Ouagadougou, which included buildings and a fuel storage facility.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the government discovered the unauthorized construction, which started in 2023 and involved the erection of 28 housing units and a fuel bunker already stocked with fuel by Total. The French embassy has not secured the requisite demolition or building permits, nor authorization for fuel supply, leading to a government directive to halt all construction and supply activities immediately.
