Minister Bayo inaugurates Marakisa community market

The minister of Lands and Regional Government, Momodou Aki Bayo Monday, September 21st inaugurated the newly built Marakisa community market for business transaction at the village of Marakisa, West Coast Region during his recent weeklong tour of the Community-based Infrastructure and Livelihood Improvement Project (CILIP) sites.

Minister Bayo was accompanied on his tour by senior officials of his ministry and Gamworks, and was received in the region by the chairman and officials of the Brikama Area Council.

Addressing the people of the community prior the opening of the market, the minister congratulated the beneficiaries on their new market.

He urged the people of Marakisa to take good care of the market and as well reciprocate President Jammeh’s gesture, saying President Jammeh knows what is good for the country and that he always live to expectation.

Ebrima Cham, the director general of Gamworks commended the beneficiaries and expressed hope that the building would be properly utilised.

Marie Dacosta, the project manager of CILIP noted that the market is idea of the beneficiaries; thus she urged them to let it serve its purpose and to make it more attractive to not only the villagers but also other people from different communities.

Fatou Minteh, VDC secretary, commended President Jammeh for his development efforts, which she affirmed are shaping lives of the citizenry particularly the women folk. She said the market is a development that every community is yearning for and therefore assured of good use of the market.

In a similar occasion, Minister Momodou Aki Bayo and his entourage visited the completed Nyambai market; Brikama market under construction; the new Kasa Kunda 7km gravel road and the Gunjur car park.
