NNA – Upon the prime minister’s instructions head of the Supreme body for Relief Gen. Muhammad Kheir, has been today to Hirmel and Baalbeck on a damage inspection and assessment tour.
Having also conferred with owners of local fisheries, Kheir pledged compensations for extensive damage incurred during last November’s storm when the Orates River overflew its banks and inundated them. Kheir also disclosed government payment of L.L. 15 billion earmarked for the Council of the South in compensation for heavy damage inflicted during July 2006 aggression.
Also, having inspected the localities of Ras-Baalbeck and Fakha, Kheir pledged to assist the inhabitants for damage incurred during recent clashes between gunmen and the Lebanese army.
Kheir’s last leg of tour carried him to Arsal where he reassured them that assistance would be forthcoming down the pipe thanks to concerted efforts by Prime Minister Tammam Salam, Saad Hariri and minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil.
