Pretoria: Cabinet has approved the hosting of the 2012 Cricket Champions League T20 tournament in South Africa.
Briefing reporters on Friday at a post Cabinet meeting, Minister in The Presidency responsible for Performance Monitoring, Evaluation and Administration, Collins Chabane said the tournament will take place from 9 October until 28 October and will be played in Cape Town, Centurion, Durban and Johannesburg.
The national governing bodies for amateur and professional cricket in India, Australia and South Africa developed the Champions League T20 (CLT20) to enable exposure in each of the countries to international sporting events.
Chabane said the 20-over format, currently the most popular form, will draw huge crowds to watch the games.
