Sites around Exeter being promoted as good for outdoor sex
Beauty spots, car parks and plush residential areas around Exeter and Devon are being promoted online as regular haunts of people who like having sex outdoors.
A number of sites list locations they say are used for the activity, known as dogging, with encouragement for more people to turn up and join in.
The sites include ‘millionaires’ row’ Peak Hill Road in Sidmouth – where Zoopla says property could sell for more than £1.6million.
The site, close to the golf course, is popular thanks to its large carpark, according to one site.
Other sites claim there is a small location behind the service station at Junction 27 of the M5, where people park up and have sex, and a number of car parks on Dartmoor are listed.
Two sites are named from Budleigh Salterton, including a spot on the beach and a secluded field.
A toilet off the A361 near Tiverton is listed, as is a reservoir car park off the A30 near Okehampton.
There are also locations given for sites in Chudleigh, Haldon and Ashclyst as well as Exmouth, Seaton and a layby on the A396 at Tiverton.
Torrington and Uffculme sites are also listed.
The listings give details of the best times and days to find people at the spots.
Devon and Cornwall Police have previously said they use anti-social behaviour legislation to crack down on the activity where they can.
A spokesman said: “Having sex in a public place is not actually an offence.
“The offence is one of public indecency, or public nuisance – so it’s difficult to enforce any law.
“We cannot arrest anyone simply for having sex in a public place.
“We are aware of the issue, and we’ve asked officers to disrupt the problem.
“We say to people to tell the police about it and we’ll see how we can deal with it, but ultimately it’s not just down to the police, it’s also one for the local authority.”
