Minister Nandy Somé Advocates for Qualifying Training for Women at SN-Citec

Bobo-Dioulasso – In an effort to enhance female employability, Nandy Somé, the Minister in charge of gender, has proposed qualifying training for women at the Société Nouvelle Huilerie et Savonnerie Citec (SN-Citec). This initiative aims to address the shortage of qualified female personnel capable of filling certain key positions within the company.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the lack of qualified female staff to take on roles of responsibility has been a persistent issue at SN-Citec. Minister Somé emphasized the importance of creating equal opportunities for men and women during a visit to the company’s facilities on April 19. This training initiative is seen as a step towards balancing gender representation in the workplace.

The minister also praised the company’s contributions to public health and nutrition through its production of hygiene products and foodstuffs, highlighting the positive impact on the health of families and the broader Burkinabè population.

SN-Citec, founded on November 1, 1995, stands as the first industry in Burkina Faso in the oilseed sector. It specializes in producing edible oil and livestock feed from cottonseed, alongside household soap from raw materials imported from the sub-region.
