WINDHOEK: Namibia Runs for Charity (NRC) has organised a charity run which will take place at Independence Arena in Katutura on 10 November this year.
To participate as a runner, runners have to organise personal sponsor(s) by asking friends, family, or colleagues to donate any amount of money (minimum N.dollars 1) for every lap completed by runners on a 400-metre athletics track.
NRC Project Manager Simone Iltgen said in a media statement issued on Friday that runners will not only help the needy in Namibia, but can also stand a chance to win fantastic prizes, which will be awarded in two categories – for most laps completed and for raising the highest amount of money.
The track will be open from 09h00 to 16h00 and runners must complete as many laps as he or she can. The total money raised will be donated to projects or organisations selected by the runners.
In 2011, more than 250 athletes participated in the event and collected more than N.dollars 52 000.
“This is again a chance to show humanity while having fun and doing something healthy for the family, a company and for yourself. Everybody can participate!,” Iltgen added.
