John Green is the most successful player in the more than half a century of the South Pacific and begins the defence of his Fours crown at Dapto Citizens BC.

The Illawarra-based Taren Point star claimed his 10th South Pacific title by partnering Zel Diamant, Barry Martin and Wes Falconer to win the Fours at Figgy Bowlo 12 months ago.

Diamant isn’t playing in this year’s 58th carnival and replaced by John Hills who has returned to Citos and will lead for Green.

Green has won 10 South Pacific titles, including four Fours crowns, but has drawn a tough section 14 on opening day which includes Citos bowls coordinator and former South Pacific pairs champion Brett Pieper, who is skipping  an all-Citos team on his home green.

Other top fours teams include an Albion Park team skipped by Mal Pearson, plus Jared Hamilton playing with his father Warren, and the Chapman and Glasson father/son team who all step out at  Fairy Meadow.
