The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango Region arrested the suspect on the same day.
According to a police report issued to Nampa on Sunday, the suspect allegedly repeatedly chopped the deceased’s neck with a traditional axe until her head came off.
The deceased has been identified as Rachel Sindimba, a resident of the Kahenge village.
Her next of kin have been informed.
The suspect is set to be charged with murder, read together with the Domestic Violence Act 4 of 2003.
He will appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
In an unrelated incident, a middle-aged man ended his life by hanging himself with a wire in his sleeping room on Saturday at an unknown time at the Kehemu informal settlement on the outskirts of Rundu.
The deceased was identified as Kameya Ndumba.
Police said no suicide note was left behind, and the deceased’s next of kin have already been informed.
