JOHANNESBURG, A member of Parliament from the ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC) has received death threats for supporting a petition that a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma, submitted by the opposition in the National Assembly, be voted on by secret ballot.
The ANC MP, Makhosi Khoza, said Wedenesday that her children were receiving death threats as the debate continued over the petition for a secret ballot during the no confidence motion against President Zuma. The motion is scheduled to be debated on Aug 8.
United Democratic Movement (UDM) leader Bantu Holomisa and Khoza want the vote to be conducted by secret ballot to protect MPs who fear victimisation. Khoza said she would continue to speak out against intimidation.
The intimidation is real, proof now being Makhosi Khoza who has received death threats, even today by the way. Only, today they didn’t send the death threats to me, they are sending it to my daughter and why should I die in silence.
