Police ID man shot to death in Garfield Park community

A man shot in the Garfield Park community south of Wilmington Tuesday night has died, according to New Castle County police.

He was identified as 53-year-old Lonnie M. Dixon on Wednesday by police.

Police were called to the first block of Karlyn Drive about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, said Officer First Class JP Piser, a spokesman with New Castle County police. On Wednesday, police said he was shot multiple times.

Dixon was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead there, Piser said.

The police department also has a smartphone app that residents may use to submit information to investigators.

A reward of up to $20,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of those responsible for violent crimes.
