PRETORIA– Officials from the South African Department of Water and Sanitation are meeting with their Nigerian counterparts here this week to exchange information on the management of water.
The three-day meeting, which concludes on Thursday, is being held at the request from the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) to undertake a technical study tour of South Africa to share water regulatory best practices.
During the exchanges this week, both countries will share information on water governance strategies. Issues discussed so far include Water Tribunal processes, water use licence registration and revenue collection water billing system processes.
On Wednesday, the Nigerian officials visited the Vaal Dam in Deneysville in Free State Province.
