WINDHOEK: A 25-year-old male Namibian Police Force (NamPol) officer was arrested for murder and attempted murder, following shootings at the Crows-In bottle store in Khomasdal on Friday morning.
NamPol Crime Investigations’ Coordinator for the Khomas Region, Deputy Commissioner Sylvanus Nghishidimbwa said during a media briefing in the capital yesterday that the incident took place at about 03h00 when the off-duty police officer shot a 25-year-old man to death after the two were embroiled in an argument inside that bar.
Nghishidimbwa said the police officer followed the victim outside to his car, and used his private firearm to shoot the man several times.
Another occupant of the car survived with three gunshot wounds, and was taken to the Katutura State Hospital. He is in a stable condition. The suspect is expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court today.
GOBABIS; A woman and her two-year-old son are fighting for their lives in a Windhoek hospital, after both were shot in the head by the boy’s father yesterday.
The two were transferred to Windhoek from the Gobabis District Hospital yesterday for intensive care, due to the seriousness of their injuries.
The same perpetrator also allegedly shot a man in the arm, and also allegedly claimed the life of another woman whom he shot in the head at close range, before turning the gun on himself.
He died on the scene. According to information obtained through reliable sources, the shooter and his live-in girlfriend had been arguing a day before the shooting.
The girlfriend apparently suspected that her boyfriend, who ran a shebeen from their residence, was having a love affair with one of his employees who lives on the same premises.
