ONGWEDIVA: The International University of Management (IUM) is a place where students are to be educated to realize their dream and not an institution of certificate awards.

Newly-appointed IUM Coordinator at Ongwediva Branch, Simaata Francis Mwiya said this during that university’s Staff and Students Information-Sharing Platform held at Ongwediva Town’s Sam Nujoma Multi-Purpose Centre on Thursday.

“Dear students, nothing is wrong by having future dreams in life, let us dream, work on your dreams. Don’t wait for tomorrow, starts now,” Mwiya urged the students.

He told the students that the earlier they start, the better. Mwiya also used the platform to encourage the students and the entire IUM community to keep on promoting the image of the university through their way of conduct, commitment and professionalism.

According to Mwiya, students need self-evaluation on what they want to do, what future holds for them and how people view their qualifications as well as to set for themselves achievable goals.

Mwiya told the gathering that during his first three weeks of stay at IUM he enjoyed seeing the students engaging themselves in research work, despite the fact that facilities and resources are limited at the university.

“Dear students, lecturing staff, let us be proud of our university, and let us commit ourselves to our studies. It is only us who can make a difference,” the IUM Ongwediva Branch’s Coordinator urged some 350 students and lecturers who attended the meeting.

Mwiya has been the principal of Erundu Secondary School in Oshakati before becoming the IUM Coordinator at Ongwediva last month.
