Arson attack on Tiverton home

A fire was deliberately started in a Tiverton home yesterday.

Tiverton firefighters were called to a kitchen fire at West Exe South shortly before 11pm.

When they arrived at the ground floor flat the fire had already been put out.

Back-up firefighters on their way from Cullompton and Bampton were stood down.

A ventilation fan was used to clear smoke in the property before the incident was handed over to Devon & Cornwall Police for investigation.

The incident is being treated as arson.
