Armed police officers were called out to an incident in South Devon.
Officers wearing helmets and body armour appeared to detain a person in Warren Road, Torquay, at around 8.15pm on Sunday.
People watched from doorways in the street of terraced houses as a suspect kneeled in the middle of the road.
The person appeared to have their hands cuffed behind their back then stood up, with officers in front and behind as others looked on.
One appeared to be aiming a weapon at the suspect during the incident. A police dog handler was also on the scene.
According to a report on the Torquay Herald Express website, the incident was understood to have begun as a dispute between two households which then escalated. It reported arrests were made.
The force helicopter hovered overhead for around 20 minutes during the incident in a residential area a short walk from Torquay Central Cinema in Abbey Road.
The incident was the second in a few days in which armed police have been photographed being deployed in Devon.
In an earlier incident, armed police were involved in a drugs raid in Kinnerton Way, Exwick, Exeter, on Thursday night.
Three Exeter men were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Police carried out search warrants at two flats under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Suspected Class A drugs were seized during the raid.
