French farmers, specifically wine producers from the Montpellier region in the south of France, are once again attacking Spanish products and have launched a publicity campaign in the press aimed at consumers and warning of alleged unfair competition from Spanish wines which are being sold as French wines.
Details of this campaign were made public at the same time as a meeting held recently in Paris between Stéphane Le Foll, the French Minister for Agriculture, and representatives from the wine industry. The meeting was called due to the fact that in the last few months, wine producers in the south of the country have been protesting against Spanish wine imports.
This new attack not only goes completely against the rule of law but also represents a breach of single market rules. We hope that the interests of Spanish citizens in this situation will also be defended.
