Ethiopian Council of Ministers Ratifies Several Key Policies and Regulations


ADDIS ABABA — The Ethiopian Council of Ministers has passed important regulations and policies, including a proclamation aimed at enhancing the nation’s export tax incentives, as reported by the Office of the Prime Minister. The legislation is designed to increase foreign currency earnings critical for industrial development and investment, and to bolster competitiveness and support for exporters. The proclamation has been forwarded to the House of People’s Representatives for final approval.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Further discussions led to the approval of a regulation by the Federal Cooperative Work Commission to improve service quality and financial sustainability, which will be published in the Negarit Gazette. The Council also approved a new health policy, updating the three-decade-old framework to better address the current health challenges of the growing population and the rise in communicable and non-communicable diseases. Additionally, a new policy for agriculture and rural development was ratified, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and rural transformation. These policies and regulations are set to take effect immediately upon their respective approvals and publications.
