MUKWE: The Directorate of Veterinary Services will conduct a second vaccination campaign against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in the Kavango Region’s Ndiyona and Mukwe constituencies over the next two months.
The second round of the FMD vaccination campaign, which will also include the ear-tagging of cattle, will be conducted from 13 August to 14 September.
The vaccination campaign will use a trivalent (three-component) vaccine acquired from the Botswana Vaccine Institute, the only institute where such a vaccine is produced in southern Africa.
Mobile crash pans will be used to cover communities which do not have fixed crash pans.
According to the programme from the regional veterinary office yesterday, about 30 farms and 40 communities in the Ndiyona Constituency will be covered, while in the Mukwe Constituency, the campaign will cover 55 communities.
