One of the accused persons, 51-year-old Theophilia Lingwe, is the mother of the 28-year-old Festus Lingwe who was shot and killed by the now deceased security guard – Petrus Nymbwali – an employee of the Shilimela Security Company.
The other accused persons are Edward Mashika, Johannes Shapi, Pontianus Shivambo, Lukas Ndjamba, Christophine Zangata, David Nyangana, David Kasinga and Irmhilde Mashika.
The accused person’s ages range between 22 and 63.
They are accused of apparently killing the security guard in retaliation for killing Festus a few minutes earlier in the Mashare Constituency.
After informing the accused persons of their charges and right to engage the services of legal representatives of their own choice, Rundu Magistrate Hellen Olaiya postponed the case to 06 May this year for further police investigations and legal aid applications.
The accused people were remanded in custody until their next court appearance.
Lingwe, Zangata and Irmhilde Mashika opted to conduct their own defence, while the remaining six chose to apply for legal assistance.
The State objected to bail on the grounds that investigations are still in its infancy, and it would also not be in the interest of justice.
The accused persons were then advised to make formal bail applications if they wish to be released.
