Government wishes all learners well for 2017 NSC final examinations
Government sends its well wishes to all learners sitting for their 2017 National Senior Certificate (NSC) final examinations.
Communications Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane said, This is the most critical time of the year as this examination concludes 12 years of schooling. Students are advised to remain focussed on their studies; and parents and guardians are encouraged to create a supportive environment during this significant period in the lives of the learners.
Government is pleased with measures put in place by both the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provincial Departments of Education to safeguard centres to enable learners to write their examinations following the damage caused by the recent storms in the provinces. Government is confident that the National Department of Basic Education’s catch-up programmes for learners that were affected by protests during the course of the year, as well as other initiatives to assist matriculants will yield positive outcomes.
Education remains an essential tool in building an inclusive society, providing equal opportunities and helping all South Africans to realise their full potential, said Kubayi-Ngubane.
Government calls on society to continue providing support to learners as they prepare for the examinations. The role of society is imperative as working together we move South Africa forward.
