RUNDU: A female Namibian Police officer at Rundu is battling for her life in the Rundu State hospital after she was allegedly stabbed three times on her body with a knife by her boyfriend.
The incident, which attracted huge crowd, happened at the Sauyemwa informal settlement on the outskirt of Rundu on Saturday afternoon.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Willie Bampton told this reporter on Monday that the police sergeant attached at the police charge office was stabbed underneath the breast, on the back as well as on her right leg.
Deputy Commissioner Bampton said the motive behind the stabbing could not be established at this stage as she was unable to talk.
The victim, Natalia Ndara, was admitted in the Rundu State Hospital and this reporter has established that she has since been transferred to Windhoek on Monday.
The suspect, a 40 year-old taxi driver at Rundu, was arrested by the police the same day and is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s court either today or tomorrow.
His name is known but will only be released after his first court appearance.
