OPUWO: At least 40 heads of ministries and members of the private sector, non-governmental organisations and community-based organisations were expected to attend a workshop on regional nutrition awareness and mobilisation here today.

They would be joined by members of faith-based organisations and traditional leaders at the one-day workshop.

The workshop, which was organised by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), through the office of the Governor of the Kunene Region, is taking place at the Community Hall in Opuwo.

The purpose of the workshop is to create awareness about the situation of nutrition in the country, and the Kunene Region in particular.

The gathering is furthermore expected to help in sharing information and increase knowledge about steps that can be taken to mitigate malnutrition.

Topics on the agenda include what the extent of the problem is in the region, and nutrition as a multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder response to achieving national development.
