South Africa: Two Suspects Arrested in Stanford With an Illegal Firearm, a Hijacked Vehicle and Abalone
The vigilance of two members of Stanford police resulted in the apprehension of two suspects aged 43 and 26 respectively who were caught in possession of an illegal firearm, a hijacked vehicle and 6507 units of abalone. Last night at around 18:00 the members were on patrol in the rural area of Stanford when they noticed a Ford LDV under suspicious circumstances. The vehicle was stop and search which led to the discovery of 43 bags of abalone and a 9mm firearm with the serial number removed and 17 rounds of ammunition. Further investigation led to the discovery that the vehicle was hijacked in Muizenberg during October this year. The two suspects are due to make a court appearance in Hermanus on Monday 2016-11-07.
