CHINA-SOUTH AFRICA TIES HAVE ENTERED THEIR BEST PERIOD, SAYS CHINA VEEP
The visiting Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao has described the current state of the China-South Africa relationship as having entered its historically best period.
Li, who said this when here Tuesday with Solly Mapaila, the second deputy general-secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), added that the Communist Party of China (CPC) attached great importance to the friendly relations with the SACP and that the exchanges between the two parties had been fruitful.
He also expressed gratitude for the SACP's long-term support for China on issues concerning the latter's core interests and major concerns.
He hoped that the CPC and the SACP would continue to expand exchanges and co-operation, learn from each other, and better serve the development of the China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership.
Mapaila said that South Africa-China relations were both special and friendly, and the SACP was satisfied with the development of bilateral ties. The SACP is willing to enhance high-level exchanges with the CPC, deepen exchanges over experiences of Party and state governance, and learn from the CPC's successful experience, Mapaila added.
He said the SACP stood ready to promote practical party-to-party co-operation so as to advance relations between the two countries.
