Answer – Member State compliance with EU Energy Security Strategy – P-004593/2017

The Commission has so far not been informed about the conclusion of an agreement between the Hungarian government and Gazprom.

The Commission fully supports the so-called BRUA project as one of the priority infrastructure projects identified by the High Level Group on Central and South Eastern Europe Gas Connectivity (CESEC HLG) to achieve a diversification of energy sources and enhance security of gas supply in the region.

The Commission is prepared to work together with Hungary and other Member States which are exploring the possibility of additional gas delivery routes in order to ensure alignment with the EU energy policy objectives and the regional energy policy objectives as agreed in the memorandum of understanding concluded by the CESEC HLG at the meeting in Dubrovnik of July 2015.
