XIAMEN: China’s Vice Minister of Commerce, Jiang Yaoping officially opened the 16th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) here on Saturday.
Over 440 organisations from 96 countries and regions worldwide are participating in the four-day fair, which ends on Tuesday.
A Namibian business delegation led by Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Tjekero Tweya is also attending the event.
In his opening address, Jiang said the event focuses on national and international investment negotiation and investment policy promotion, the coordinated development of national and regional economies, as well as economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait, which separates the island of Taiwan from the Asian mainland.
He called on all participants to promote trade and investment for the benefit of global economic growth.
Jiang also explained how the CIFIT, which started in 1997, has improved its function and the deepening of investment promotion between countries.
The event includes investment and trade exhibitions, investment forums and seminars, and investment project matchmaking symposia.
Over 250 foreign governmental officials, ambassadors in China and experts are attending the trade fair.
