Sami Kuta community hails minister’s visit

Momodou Aki Bayo was on tour to various CILIP intervention sites across all regions in the country. This visit was another opportunity for the villagers to interact with the Regional Government minister.

Speaking during the minister’s visit to the village, Binta Dampha, the vice president of the village women’s association, expressed their happiness to see the minister being representative of the President, visit their village, which has not happened for a very long time.

She quickly used the opportunity to lament on their past challenges when there was no water in the village, noting that now they are enjoying clean and hygienic water.

Sami Kuta1For his part, Sanjal Dampha, the secretary of the Village Development Committee (VDC), gave a detailed background on the implementation of the project. He informed that the project was completed at the tune of D713, 780.00.

He went on to reveal to the authorities that for maintenance and sustainability of the borehole, the villagers, on annual basis would be contributing a token amount.

Accompanying the minister on this tour were: Omar Sompo Ceesay, governor of URR; Ebrima Cham, director general Gamworks; Maria Dacosta, project manager CILIP; Momodou Jallow, director of Local Government and CILIP Project Relations officer at the Ministry of Lands and Regional Government; Jola Bah, chief of Tumana, Alagie Jawara, chairman Basse Area Council; senior officials of Ministry of Lands and Regional Government and Gamworks, among other officials.
