Public Service and Administration hosts Presidential Golf Challenge 2018, 9 Feb

Members of the media are invited to the annual Presidential Golf Challenge (PGC) which is hosted as part of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) activities.

The purpose of this initiative is to raise funds for charities designated by the sitting President while simultaneously facilitating an opportunity for networking among decision-makers within the private sector and entities from the three spheres of government on the day immediately subsequent to the President’s SONA.

The initiative, coordinated by the Ministry for the Public Service and Administration, is a joint effort with the private sector to partake in developmental initiatives to empower society, with this year’s contributions to be made to the Jacob Zuma Education Trust.

Since its inception, the Jacob Zuma Education Trust has provided access to education to over 20 000 students and learners from the most disadvantaged backgrounds.

The golf event will afford the President an opportunity to continue emphasise the role of business in economic development and growth using education as a tool for sustainable development and economic growth, and to also allow for corporate social investment alignment that seeks to make education for the poor a reality.

Attending the golf day will be Cabinet Ministers; Members of Parliament; Members of Executive Councils; Directors-General; Heads of State Owned Enterprises and Executives from the private sector.
