ONGWEDIVA: Members of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) branch here have elected well-known local business personality Veicko Haimbodi as their new Chairperson.
A total of 22 paid-up members of the 142-member Ongwediva NCCI Branch participated in the election of the seven-member executive committee on Thursday.
Haimbodi received nine votes, compared to eight votes for Mire Christoph and five votes for Pandu Wahengo, during the branch’s elective annual general meeting (AGM) held at Ongwediva.
Haimbodi takes over from Linda Naikaku, who could not stand for re-election as she was elected as the vice-chairperson of the Northern NCCI Branch executive committee earlier this year.
He will be deputised by Christoph, who garnered 13 votes in the vice-chairperson race against Namutenya Sheelongo (seven votes) and Peter Mutumbulwa (two votes).
Wahengo was elected as the branch’s new secretary after garnering 14 votes, beating Turky Tobias (five votes) and Frans Nampolo (three votes).
