OSHIVELO: Minister of Safety and Security Nangolo Mbumba yesterday inaugurated 20 barracks at the Oshivelo Police Station.
The police station is situated at Oshivelo, some 95 kilometres north of Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region, and is manned by 77 police officers.
The Oshivelo police barracks were built at a cost of N.dollars 3,2 million through funding by the Ministry of Safety and Security to provide better housing to the members of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) serving there.
The construction of the new police barracks commenced in 2011.
Currently, there are several other NamPol construction projects such as police holding cells, houses and more barracks underway here.
According to Mbumba, close to N.dollars 10 million has been put aside by his ministry for the completion of these police projects at the Oshivelo Police Station.
