OKATOPE: Lisias Natangwe Mokanya, who turned a gun on himself after shooting his 23-year-old lover five times in Windhoek last month, was buried at Okatope in the Ohangwena Region yesterday.
A number of mourners from all walks of life packed the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) church at Okatope to pay their last respects to the 42-year-old Mokanya, who was originally from the Oshimumu village near Okatope.
His lover, Patricia Hango, was from Oupumako village in the Oshana Region.
Mokanya and Hango’s bodies were found in his silver Toyota Corolla sedan vehicle on the afternoon of 26 September in front of the offices of the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW), where Hango was reportedly employed.
It has been reported that the relationship between the two had turned sour.
Reverend Hilma Tshilongo, who presided over Mokanya’s funeral, advised those in attendance to seek advice and counselling instead of committing suicide or resorting to passion killing when life becomes difficult.
