The president of The Gambia Football Federation, Lamin Kaba Bajo, has expressed his satisfaction with this year’s Super Nawettan competition so far, describing it as a tournament which is well participated with players and teams showcasing great performance.
Bajo was speaking in an interview with Observer Sports shortly after Serrekunda West scored a stoppage time winner against Bakau and book a place in Saturday’s final against Sukuta. The game, which will be played at the Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium, will be a repeat of the 2005 final where Sukuta secure their only triumph in the competition to date.
The GFF president added that aside from the unfortunate incident that happened in Brikama, which he described as undesirable, the tournament in general was a success. “I’m looking forward to a very thrilling and violence free final on Saturday between Sukuta and Serekunda West,” he said.
Bajo added that there have been an improvement in terms of teams’ participation and fans support as well, noting that there are lots of development from last year’s tournament.
