WINDHOEK: Four resettlement farms will soon be incorporated into existing communal land through a draft proclamation by President Hifikepunye Pohamba.
The Minister of Lands and Resettlement, Alpheus !Naruseb tabled the draft proclamation to incorporate defined portions of unalienated State land as part of existing communal areas for endorsement in Parliament on Tuesday.
In line with the 1991 National Land Conference resolutions, the President is considering the expansion of three communal areas in three regions, !Naruseb said while tabling the draft proclamation.
The three communal areas are the Otjimbingwe communal area in the Erongo Region; the Vaalgras communal area in the Karas Region; and Hoachanas in the Hardap Region.
The Lands Minister said Farm Haichas – measuring 12 870 hectares – is expected to be incorporated into the Vaalgras communal area, and Farm Klein Swartmodder – measuring 7 426 hectares – into the Kai//Khaun communal area in Hoachanas.
Farm Uitdraai -measuring 5 945 hectares – and Farm Kamandibmund – measuring 4 649 hectares – will be incorporated into the Tsoaxudaman Traditional Authority in the Erongo Region.
