This partnership was deliberate as this are institutions with experience both in youth activism and within development agencies. The Conference which is an integral part of youth month programmes, will be held under a theme Young people taking charge in leading development.
This conference that will assemble youth from municipalities across the country, is geared to ensuring that young people are at the forefront of leading development.
The objectives of the conference are to create an inclusive youth participation platform that enables young people to review the progress of local government in the achievement of the National Youth Policy 2020, strengthen partnerships between government, business and civil society in developing young leaders in the local space and to build the government machinery in the provision of services to young people.
The Conference is expected to bring together 600 participants from all municipalities, provinces and key stakeholders in the local government sector, confirms that indeed the future does indeed belong to the youth.
