ALGERIAN FM TO ATTEND WASHINGTON CONFERENCE ON TRADE, SECURITY, GOVERNANCE IN AFRICA

ALGIERS, Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel will participate in the Ministerial Conference on Trade, Security and Governance in Africa to be held in Washington D.C. on Friday, at the invitation of United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement here Tuesday that the meeting would bring together the foreign ministers of about 40 countries, as well as African and American business leaders and officials of leading American institutions cpncerned with these matters.

The statement added that this important meeting would provide an opportunity for Messahel to present the Algerian experience in counter-terrorism, de-radicalization and national reconciliation policies.

Before leaving for the US, Messahel will attend the Algeria-Tunisia-Egypt tripartite ministerial meeting on Libya to be held in Cairo on Wednesday.

This meeting, which follows the Algiers tripartite meeting held in June, will allow the three countries’ ministers to review the latest developments in Libya and examine together the factors which can be brought to bear to contribute a rapid settlement of the crisis in that country as part of the Libyan Political Agreement of Dec 17, 2015, added the statement.
