KEETMANSHOOP: A diesel tank pulled by a truck overturned some 25 kilometres outside Keetmanshoop en route to Mariental, causing the fuel to spill onto the surface of the road yesterday afternoon.
The truck belongs to Anton Transport, and was travelling from South Africa to Windhoek, pulling two tanks of diesel.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Chief Inspector at Keetmanshoop, Bennie Groenewald told Nampa today that one of the tyres of the tank carrying 11 000 litres of diesel burst, causing it to overturn and spill some of the diesel.
Groenewald said the other tank and truck pulling it did not overturn, thus the driver did not sustain any injuries.
The overturned tank with the remaining diesel were towed back to Keetmanshoop, while the truck and other tank proceeded to Windhoek yesterday.
