Scott Mathieson skips his compositie team with the confidence of two strong knockout wins on semi-final day in Tuesday’s South Pacific Fours at Fairy Meadow Bowling Club.

Mathieson, with partners David Munt (lead), Nathan Bezant (second), and Nick King (third) take on Jared  Hamilton’s rink in one semi-final, with defending champion John Green to skip against Paul Sweeny in an all-composite final four.

After an impressive 3wins+24 to claim their section at Kiama, Mathieson stormed into the semi-finals with a 19-11 win over Mathew Searle before beating Peter Freestone’s composite team 17-8 in their quarter-final.

It hasn’t been a great carnival for club sides in the Fours with only Fairy Meadow’s Trevor Tougher making it to the last eight before going out 19-7 to John Green.

Green has won a record 10 titles including four in the Fours and two in the past three years.

John Hills has returned to Dapto Citizens from Corrimal and takes the place of Zel Diamant as lead with Barry Martin and Wes Falconer  back to defend their crown.

They won’t have an easy time against Sweeny and partners Trevor Bennett, Jim Davies and Mark Larsen who are chasing a fifth straight carnival win after a tense 15-13 victory over Steve Poole (Campbelltown City) in round two and an even tighter last end 14-13 quarter-final win over Paul Rowe.
