King Mohammed VI Calls for Immediate End to Aggression Against Gaza at OIC Summit


BANJUL — At the 15th Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Banjul, Gambia, King Mohammed VI of Morocco called for an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities in Gaza and emphasized the need for humanitarian aid delivery throughout the Palestinian territory.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Ahmed Toufiq, on behalf of the King, the monarch reiterated Morocco’s stance on the urgent need to end the “unprecedented offensive” against Gaza. The King, serving as the President of the Al-Quds Committee, stressed the critical situation faced by the Palestinian people and condemned the escalation of systematic attacks by extremist settlers in the West Bank, which he attributed to the instigation of Israeli government officials.



His Majesty also criticized actions that aim to alter the legal and civilizational character of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and rejected all forms of forced displacement and collective punishment against Palestinians. The King called on influential states involved in the peace process to take historical responsibility and help bring an end to the ongoing crisis and violence.



The King highlighted Morocco’s efforts in sending significant aid to the Palestinians, coordinated through the Egyptian authorities and the Rafah crossing point. He commended the work done by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in carrying out socio-economic projects in Jerusalem and supporting local hospitals.



Furthermore, King Mohammed VI expressed concern over the rise of hate speech and its impact on global peace and security, referencing a UN resolution sponsored by Morocco aimed at combating extremism and promoting dialogue and tolerance.



His Majesty also addressed conflicts in Islamic countries like Libya, Mali, Somalia, and Sudan, advocating for dialogue and reconciliation to preserve sovereignty and promote national unity.
