Kossi Province Holds Tribute Ceremony for Late Sports Director Seydou Zoré

Nouna – The High Commissioner of Kossi province, Dô Jacques Abel Sanou, presided over a tribute ceremony on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Nouna, honoring the late provincial director of Sports and Leisure, Seydou Zoré, who passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the age of 41.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, the event was attended by friends, colleagues, family members, and sports enthusiasts, who gathered to remember Zoré. A series of activities was organized, including an aerobics session and a gala football match between civil servants and students, which ended in a 3-2 score.

Seydou Zoré had been instrumental in the development of various social classes, especially youth, through sports activities such as cross-country running, Maracana tournaments, gymnastics, aerobics, and holiday football camps. Speakers at the tribute ceremony, Rita Traoré and Mounirou Traoré, highlighted Zoré’s long-standing and significant involvement in various sports tournaments organized in Kossi province.

High Commissioner Dô Jacques Abel Sanou recognized the late director’s dedication and professionalism, extending gratitude to everyone who contributed to the ceremony’s success. He also encouraged the youth to carry on the legacy left behind by Zoré.

The ceremony included a minute of silence in memory of Seydou Zoré and was followed by a heartfelt message from Zoré’s eldest son, who expressed gratitude to the audience and especially to his mother for maintaining hope.

The tribute concluded with an aerobics session led by gym instructors and a gala match. A fundraiser was also organized to assist the bereaved family.

Seydou Zoré had served as the provincial director of Sports and Leisure since 2014 and had spent more than a decade in Nouna. He was awarded the rank of Knight of the Order of Youth Merit in 2018.
