Pretoria: Former President Nelson Mandela’s doctors have told President Jacob Zuma that the former statesman is showing a slow but steady improvement.

“The medical team also reiterated that although his health was improving steadily, Madiba still remained in a critical condition,” said the Presidency in a statement.

Madiba was admitted to the Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria on 8 June for a recurring lung infection.

Zuma has again thanked South Africans for their on-going prayers and for keeping the former President in their thoughts.

“Let us continue to pray for Madiba’s recovery and good health,’’ he said
