Burkina Faso Army Strikes Terrorist Groups in Yatenga and Tapoa

Ouahigouya – The Burkinabè military conducted targeted strikes against terrorist groups in the regions of Yatenga and Tapoa on Monday. The operations were part of an effort to combat terrorists who had stolen livestock and engaged in other criminal activities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the attacks began when terrorists stole livestock in Barga, located within the Ouahigouya area of Yatenga. The terrorists then fled northward but were located by aerial surveillance hiding under trees and grouping together. A precise drone strike was conducted, hitting the largest group directly and causing survivors to scatter. In their panic, they mixed with the stolen animals in an unsuccessful attempt to evade further strikes.

Simultaneously, two more incidents unfolded later the same day around 6 p.m. In Dio, near Ouahigouya, terrorists fleeing after burning houses were intercepted by air operators. A missile was launched at the middle of their column, followed by a second strike targeting the head of the convoy, significantly halting their escape. Continuous strikes ensured the destruction of the terrorist column.

Meanwhile, at the Tapoa barrage, intense combat occurred between the armed forces and terrorists. The confrontation forced the terrorists to retreat towards Tounga, located approximately ten kilometers north of Diapaga. In Tounga, a group of terrorists attempting to hide under a large tree were effectively neutralized by a missile strike.

The military operations in these regions highlight ongoing efforts to suppress terrorist activities that threaten local security and stability.
