Sissili U17 Football Cup Launches Second Edition

LÉO — The second edition of the Sissili Provincial Director of Post-Primary and Secondary Education Cup was inaugurated on Saturday, April 20, 2024, with a notable event in Léo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, thirteen educational institutions are participating in this year’s tournament, which is themed “Sport and culture factors of peace and social cohesion.” The kickoff match saw Léo Provincial High School defeat the General Education College of Bukua 3-1 in a penalty shootout after a regular time draw. The competition, also featuring athletic events such as the 80 meters, long jump, and triple jump, will span one month. Mimtiri Oualbéogo, the provincial director, emphasized the importance of sports as a vehicle for social cohesion and peace and called for broad community support for the ongoing tournament.
